The Rally had about 20-25 people mostly young college aged with a few older democrats who saw this as an opportunity to push their agenda. The biggest being Carol Lutness who showed up with a suitcase full of political propaganda and was really only interested in talking with the press. Obviously Lutness missed the entire purpose of this rally and the rally in Washington DC.  These Rallies aren’t for or against a particular view point but are against the polarizing of the American people which in the last two years has been over the top ridiculous.  If you voted for Barrack Obama you don’t just have opposing political views, you are some how a secret socialist mole hell bent on the destruction of the United States!!! Really?

Luttness isn’t the only person who missed the purpose of these rallies.  Take a look at Bill Reynolds (notaferryfan) comment on the Signal article.

Well of course this Rally sounds silly to a Republican Wingnut extremist like Bill Reynolds, who is prone to just repeat a position repeatedly and end his posts with “idiot” or “moron.”  He is a person who is unable to support the merits of his position with facts or reason, rather creating video after video framing his opponent in a way that makes them look like they are saying something they are not.  Must have learned that one from Hannity who has been caught on numerous occasions framing Obama’s comments or even completely misrepresenting video all together.

Overall I think the rally was a success.  It had about as many locals as Roger Gitlin’s minute man rally back in February. Gitlin and Save Our State had to promote for weeks and get every wing nuts from Santa Clarita to Victorville to show up to make it appear they actually have some kind of influence.

What would a public rally be without Tony Miano who showed up with his amplifier so he could preach some fire and brimstone to the passing motorists. One of the Rally to Restore Sanity sign holders told me he changed his sign to read” I don’t agree with him but that is ok” and an arrow point toward Tony Miano. Wish I would have got a shot of that.

Overall I thought that Rally goers were in good spirits and had smiles on their faces. More of this type of thing please.

Mr. Profitt, You have asked that I apologize to you. Perhaps this is not the apology that you are looking for, but I do have some things to say.

I have been called a progressive, a liberal, a professional agitator. You have been called a conservative, a Republican, a member of the Tea Party movement. Fundamentally and most importantly, you and I are both human beings. We are also both American citizens. These two facts, to me, are far more meaningful than the multitude of labels that we carry. And if these two facts are true then it means we are on the same team.

I have not been for one moment angry with you and your actions. Instead I feel thoroughly devastated. It is evident that your physical assault on me is symptomatic of the crisis that this country is struggling through. And it seems that I will heal from my injuries long before this country can work through our separation. Only when we decide let go of our hate, our violence and our aggression will we be able to communicate to each other about the issues that divide us. Right now, we are not communicating, we are stomping on each other. No one can ever win, no one can ever be heard, with violence.

You and I, as fellow citizens, and we, as a country, have a choice. Either we choose to continue the cycle of inflicting violence upon each other, screaming at each other, insulting each other and putting one another down or we and find a way to sit down and start listening to each other. We’ll see how far we get. We are all viciously and vociferously feeding a fire that will only burn us down together. We must reach inside ourselves and make space for each other. We must forgive each other. We must believe in our capacity for transformation. The moment we choose compassion and reconciliation is the moment that we will begin to move toward freedom. There is no other way.

I believe that you should be held accountable for your actions but I also recognize the incredibly negative impact that the consequences must be having on your life, and I wish you all the best as you yourself heal from this. Violence hurts everyone.

I have known for a while that right wing violence would increase just by the extremist rhetoric, claiming that left wing violence was sure to come by political blow hards such as Glenn Beck. Extremist always justify their extremism by claiming their opponents are worse. Right Wing Violence has been at all time high with progressive bloggers and activist being attacked at various conservative  meetings. I thought these were the liberty, free speech people?  Weren’t these the people who flooded into town hall meetings chanting, yelling and doing anything to disrupt the meetings? Now they receive some opposition and this is how they respond?

What does Tim Profitt want Lauren Valle to apology for? Having her head in the way of his stomping motion?

I have known you three years

I sent the Op Ed on ” What happens November 3″ in Monday, October 17. No response or acknowledgement of receipt was given me. Former Opinion editor Josh Premako would always acknowledge receipt.

I sent a follow up e mail Wednesday, October 19. No response of acknowledgement.
Some weeks back, I wrote a relevant piece entitled, ” Is it OK to use the word Negro.?” Lila, I am still waiting nor your three-times asked for explanation why you and The Signal refused to run that piece.
Lila,if no one ever told you, when you ignore some one that is rude behavior. This is not the first time you have displayed that behavior.

Your criticism of my commentary, ” Lame Dame Congress.” is nothing more than a red herring. You can find “ fault” with anyone’s work.You or Stephen could have e mailed me and said, ” Roger, could you soften this or alter that.” Nope, in the trash can it goes, no comment, no response, complete rudeness and display of arrogance. Lila, I am not the only writer who says this. Look in the mirror and listen to members of the community you so casually dismiss. The Signal is a biased, Left-leaning newspaper.

Also, in my commentaries on illegal immigration, The Signal ALWAYS changed the words “illegal alien” to your preferred words, illegal immigrants. I don’t say illegal immigrants. I say illegal aliens.

You know it’s a crazy time when an extremist who affiliates with people even George Runner refuses to be seen in public with can accuse The Signal – a newspaper that has endorsed Republican after Republican this season- of being a left-leaning newspaper.

But more than that, what leaps off the page is Roger’s sense of victimhood and need for validation. He really think’s he’s a man fighting the good fight against the liberals, the illegals, the greens, and now, the Signal, a “left-leaning newspaper.” He can’t believe someone would show him -a bench-warmer real estate agent, self-described “teacher” and crank letter writer- “disrespect.” He thinks that by virtue of his three years of race-baiting and illegal immigrant bashing op/eds, he is entitled to column inches in The Signal in perpetuity. He just doesn’t understand why the Signal would refuse to publish his way-out-of-the-mainstream views, so he defaults to what he’s been programmed to say: “You’re a liberal!”

And he shouts this at The Signal!

Notice too how he talks down to editor Lila Littlejohn, a woman who has taught journalism at College of the Canyons and who has, for better or worse, lead The Signal’s editorial group for many years. He can’t stand that he’s being denied a soap box for his hate speech (by a woman no less) and his need to see his own name in print is all-consuming.

I hesitate to post this because Gitlin is just one more race-baiting SCV extremist who doesn’t deserve attention, but his fall from Creekside’s grace is a major win for decency, rationalism, and human dignity.

So long Gitlin, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out of town.

What kind of message is Gitlin sending by publishing a “Conservative Voting Guide?” It really seems a bit unpatriotic to tell people how they should vote. In Gitlin’s defense, I suppose hard-line conservative followers can’t be trusted to think for themselves.

Sulpizio’s voting guide is even worse than Gitlin’s. At least he explains why he is endorsing his people. Sulpizio’s submitted a list with instructions for her party. Does she have so little respect for her fellow Americans that she doesn’t even attempt to persuade them? Does she just expect them to just automatically vote the party line? It is no wonder the Republicans have been owning the Democrats in the valley for so long; Democrats can’t even come up with good reasons to vote Democrat other then, “Oh, well – I am not a Republican.”

Voters need to wake up and stop letting political parties, media blowhards and local partisan drones – like Gitlin and Sulpizio – tell them how to think, feel and vote.
