Wingnuts of the Year 2009

At first I was got a little, how shall we say?  ”Uppity” at CNN when I read the title, CNN names Michele Bachman Wingnut of the Year.  I was going to slam them for continuing the right and left dog and pony show that makes one want to move to Antarctica, I hear it is nice this time of year.  Honestly, I don’t even know if you can accuse CNN of being partisan they just seem stupid at times, last time I wasted time watching CNN they were going on Twitter to see what @soccermom43 thought about Sonia Sotomayor nomination to the supreme court nomination.  Like I care!  But It was actually John Avalon from thedailybeast.com, and I think he did a pretty even handed job nailing both sides on their biggest offenders.

Typically I don’t spend much time looking at blowhards in the media.  One of things that drives me nuts about Democrats is how they watch Fox news commentators and manufacture outrage at every wingnutty thing they say.  Why waste your time?  At least Conservatives just claim everyone else is bias and they don’t waste their time and energy being outraged at everything guys like Keith Olbermann and Ed Schultz say. Vakay a Victim of Her Own Crime*

Victim is as Victim Does

Most sensible honest people regardless of their political ideology condemn Lynn Vakay’s action and express disappointment for her lack of repentance or admission of any kind of guilt.  Bob Haueter, the chairman of the 38th Central Committee and Los Angeles Region Chair for the Meg Whitman Governor campaign, publicly labeled me a democrat and made accusations of sexism because apparently woman are immune from any kind  of questions about their integrity.  Unless you are strong liberal woman that gets under Conservative’s Skin like  Hilary Rodham Clinton, then it is fine to make her the subject to a shady possibly illegally funded  documentary called “Hillary: The Movie

“It upsets me that it seems like it’s an attack from the Democrats who have attacked me often in The Signal,” Vakay said.

Bob Hauter, president of the local Republican committee and deputy chief of staff for U.S. Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon, agreed.

He said he thinks the fact she’s a woman and a teacher – both traditionally Democratic characteristics – has made her a target.

I’ve seen her attacked before. She seems to me to be the one who probably does the best job of getting under the skin of the (political) left in the area,”

Lynn Vakay was a target because of her reckless statements, which is the same verdict for her polar opposite Carole Lutness.  Neither of these two can stay on target or thought for that matter.

“I think it’s much ado over nothing, and just a way to hide the football. The issue here is health care, and thank God she brought it up. I’d rather see the blogs spend the next couple of days debating that.”

The only people hiding the football are Bob Haueter his daughter Kimberly Haueter and Lynn Vakay. Continue reading When Republicans Attack! →

So This Is Christmas?

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one

War Is Over (if you want it)

War Is Over (if you want it)

Do you hear what I hear? It wouldn’t be the holiday season without the incessant whining of the religious grinches of our land, upset because another school principle decided not to force the children of his school to believe the myth that Christmas has anything to do with Christ or Christianity.[*] I had a friend years ago who was part of a church that refused to celebrate Christmas or Easter because of its pagan ties. At the time and even now, I thought this was an extremist view. What was the harm in spending time with family, giving gifts and eating lots of food? His reasoning: it was hypocritical for Christian believers to celebrate a holiday which was based on a lie and was in reality stolen from the pagan Roman feast celebrating the winter solstice and birth of Mithra, the god of the unconquerable sun. This feast took place on Dec. 25 and was the most sacred day of the year in Rome. Mithra is the real reason for the season. This tradition went on for thousands of years until Constantine legalized Christianity, which bought humanity a ticket on the fun train that is the Roman Catholic church trying to convert and baptize the world. Step one, take pagan traditions and make them Christian traditions — enter Christmas and Easter.[*]

You can imagine my annoyance when I read about the controversy in Chambersburg, Pa., this years battle ground in the “war on Christmas.” At least that is what Fox News would have you believe with their headline, “Atheists Trigger Nativity Scene Ban.” One might get his or her veggie tale printed underoos in a bunch at the thought of those pesky God hater’s crusade against baby Jesus! The Christians began complaining that Pennsylvania Nonbelievers Inc. was going to display a sign next to the nativity scene that listed the names of atheist veterans. The city council responded by unanimously voting to stop all displays. This sent Christians over the edge in protest and conservative news outlets spinning the blame on the nonbelievers. The nonbelievers said nothing about the nativity scene which has been on display for 20 years. What did these nonbelievers really do but try to participate and enrich their community?[*] Continue reading So This Is Christmas? →

Update on Vakaygate

Lynn Vakay in "No Greater Love"

Lynn Vakay in "No Greater Love"

I have been down in San Diego to celebrate the Holidays with my family.  What should I find on my mothers dvd player?  A screener copy of Liongate’s “No Greater Love”, which releases on DVD January 19, 2010 .  I guess having a sister working for a Christian retailer has its advantages.  Btw… it is a really crappy movie.[*]
